I wanted to add that I don’t think Donald Glover walks around all day saying these things, and asserting his masculinity. I think he probably smokes weed and works hard and respects himself too much to give a fuck. But there are people attacking his name and his work, and he needs a soapbox. This is how he expresses himself. Respect the fact that this is art, or a song, or entertainment, or whatever you want to call it. But it’s not life. The words and images an artist uses can be examined and even questioned. But don’t looks at the lyrics of a rap song and equate them with a public announcement of how this specific artist feels about this specific topic. Have some fucking depth.

I didn’t take the line as being overtly masculine to the point of being on the defensive. I saw it as, “I’m a rapist, ask a track,” as if to say, “I rape the track,” which is just common hip hop slang for killing a track. Interesting take on it.
