Limor Fried of Adafruit Industries Featured on Cover of Wired Magazine
She’s not a software “engineer” - she’s a mother fucking engineer. She is all kinds of a bad ass.
I love that this is Wired’s response to their previous cover troubles. Anderson has said that of course he would put female movers and shakers on the cover, but they just didn’t sell as well. In no way did they skew the content of their magazine (basically saying its a marketing issue, not a content issue). It was a decent answer, but clearly not sufficient for Anderson himself. And granted, I don’t know who Limor Fried is (I plan on finding out), and it’s not the most complex cover, but I respect the hell out of an editor that can argue his stance and defend his publication and at the same time, gain insight into his readers and make efforts to improve.
